Bike and Fish Experience

We are fortunate we are able to access many miles of abandoned logging trails which provide the opportunity to visit and explore a vast area of remote forests, streams and lakes.

Unfortunately much of the terrain is hilly and makes for tough biking to favorite destinations. For bikers who prefer flat terrain we plan to bypass the hills with some boat travel. The most preferred destination is a trail which follows the Tzoonie River for approximately 20 kms to Tzoonie Lake. This trail begins at the mouth of the River, at the head of Narrows Inlet, which we will access by boat thereby eliminating 16 kms of mostly rugged trail from Resort to end of Inlet.

In addition to the incredible scenery of river and mountains along the route, there are a number of great trout fishing holes. Wildlife viewing and photography opportunities are almost certain and include bear, mountain goats, elk and deer.

The plan is to load bikes and up to eight guests on boat early in AM for drop-off at river and return for pickup early evening.

If you are planning to fish you must have freshwater licence and gear (casting or fly). It would be preferable to bring your own bike, however they are available for rent in Sechelt.

Cost: $180.00 ( to be shared by participants)

Cost covers return boat transportation from resort to head of Inlet (approx 32 kms). Rate applies only to guests and includes bikes. If you are not a biker you may wish to enjoy the same experience by hiking.

Argo tours and safaris

We introduced the 5 psgr Argo safari tours this past season. Much clearing of alder trees and vegetation was necessary on abandonned trails and a small bridge will be constructed this winter. We plan to offer several choices of tours to accommodate most budjets.

(1) One hour tour to Storm Bay through "bear country" and some great scenery.

(2)  Three hour safari to Bear Creek with short 10 min. hike through incredible "old growth rainforest" to a spectacular beach at the mouth of the creek where it enters Narrows Inlet. Bring your fishing rod for some cutthroat trout. Bring a beach lunch.

(3)  Eight hour safari to high altitude mountain lakes complete with spectacular scenery, some great hiking and trout fishing.

RATES:   Will range between $20 to $80 per person depending on package and numbers. Unless previously arranged guests provide their own lunch and refreshments.

New Hiking Trail

Late in the 2009 season we completed construction of an estimated 16 km hiking trail accessed directly from our resort which takes hikers up 4000 ft to a mountain top with incredible views of the inlets, through our own "Rogers Pass" thence following abandonned logging trails and back to camp. Some family members did the introductory hike in the fall. It took approx 4 hours with no stops for lunch, etc. They described it as a great hike.

Glamping

We plan to add one or two large wall tents complete with queen size bed and cot, wood heater, table, deck, etc. Apparently the new buzz word is "glamping" which describes glamorous camping. The ambience, smell, visual and sound qualities make for a more "natural" experience.
