A truly unique British Columbia Wilderness Adventure.
Waterfront Cabin Rentals nestled in a rainforest on the ocean, surrounded by coastal mountains, alpine meadows, streams and lakes.
Tzoonie
is Unique because
we are truly a wilderness resort with no road access or neighbors of the human
variety. Most marine parks and remote lodges cannot actually access the wilderness
that surrounds them. Our site does! Explore many miles of abandonned logging
trails overlooking ocean inlets from high in the mountains.
About us:
The owner operators, Art and Aleta Giroux moved to the Sunshine Coast from Calgary 30 years ago. Prior to Calgary,we lived in northern Alberta and NWT for many years.
Art worked in Foresty, Fish & Wildlife, National Parks Service and Economic Development until being approached by an Oil Industry consortium planning to build a gas pipeline from the Arctic. This evolved into a private consulting company operating from Calgary dealing with socio-economic impact of the project and instituting training programs for Northerners.
We discovered the Sunshine Coast by accident and bought a cottage, eventually moving here permanently. We knew nothing about salt water, tides, marine life, etc so we purchased a commercial fishing vessel and fished for five years looking for a site to establish a tourism operation to provide the basis for introducing visitors to these wonders. We were so fortunate to find our present location which we subsequently developed to become Tzoonie Outdoor Adventures.
Over the years on the Coast we operated an oyster farm, smoked salmon commercially, operated water taxis and crew boats along with boat cruises to Skookumchuck and Princess Louisa Inlet complete with salmon bbqs. Mainly because of time constraints we eventually had to discontinue all the extras and zero in on the camp, which has become a "labour of love" which includes the environment and all our four-legged and winged neighbors.

Leave the stress, traffic and hurry behind.
Hop on a BC Ferry
to the Sunshine Coast and enjoy the ultimate in peace and serenity in this awesome BC wilderness setting
with a guarantee that you will relax and unwind in your cottage. In addition, the experienced
hosts ensure safety and optimum enjoyment as part of the "hands-on" learning
experience that we believe should be part and parcel of your wilderness tourism experience.
We share this super-natural environment with land, plant and marine life indigenous
to the West Coast of Canada.
The name Tzoonie is an interpretation of the
aboriginal Sechelt Indian dialect which means ... "Place of Shelter."
You don't have to win the lottery to experience the following scenario:
Imagine walking out the front door of your vacation cabin rental and sitting by a campfire on a remote beach only yards from thousands of
succulent oysters, clams, and mussels. Next, imagine beachcombing and collecting
these tasty morsels and cooking them over the campfire and dipping them in your
favorite combination of lemon and sauces and washing it all down with a glass
of wine. More importantly, you are not in a noisy oyster bar paying a ridiculous
price minus the setting sun, ocean, and sounds of nature.
| Magnificent beaches,
old-growth forests, cascading creeks and waterfalls create the spectacular coastline
that makes the Sunshine Coast a prime destination year-round. |
